The Withers...The Derby... & Cashing Tickets

As you can see from the results posted on the homepage we have been doing very well with our selections. In fact I would state that no other handicapper, site or service has been doing better!
To date we have had a terrific year and our success at cashing tickets in the Exacta's, Doubles & Pick-3's will surely continue.

This Saturday at Aqueduct features the Withers Stakes along with several races that look to be springboards into some healthy Pick-3 payouts.

There is only 1 week left to purchase The Ultimate Derby System.
Read the information on the homepage to find out more about this great method that has selected 5 consecutive Derby Champs including Giacomo at 50-1!
You can also download this system as an ebook in just minutes and will be able to learn the system in about a half hour. So there is plenty of time if you still would like to get it before the big race!

In closing I would like to say that for a racing fan this is a very exciting and hopeful time of year. The Biggest race of the year is only 1 week away, the weather is getting better and the better horses are headed back to the races.

So I hope every race fan takes a minute to realize what's happening around them and takes a breath or two and really enjoys this racing season.

The Lexington 2010

Here are some random thoughts about the 12 starters in tomorrow's Grade II Coolmore Lexington at Keeneland, probable post is 5:15pm.

Krypton comes off a 7F 1X allowance romp by 6 the opening week of the meet. This turf runner really took to the synthetic at the shorter distance. Mclaughlin and Garcia are a lethal combo, he is worth a long look.

Tampa runner Uptowncharleybrown's connections come to Kentucky with a heavy heart after the sudden death of trainer Alan Seewald. Charley has showed some talent at this level, but he now needs to rate and then pounce in the long Keeneland stretch.

Exhi comes off a front running stakes victory over the Turfway synthetic strip. Not sure he can hold the lead that extra 1/16 but you could get 10/1 on the Pletcher/Albarado combo.

You'll get a better price on Lonesome Street who trailed Exhi by a length around the track in the Rushaway. Maker/Leparoux click at 22% over the last 18 months.

Connemarra had no excuse when he disappointed in the Lanes End. I'm staying away today.

Angle players take a look at the hot John Sadler who invades with OC 1X SA winner Distorted Dave: for those on the Sadler wagon.

Chief Counsel broke his maiden (and only win) here during the fall meet. The band that brought you last year's Hold Me Back (Winstar/ Mott/Desormeaux) will send this outside horse to the post at a square value.

The Pick-3 Kings

This weekend we have two more important Derby Preps to be run. The Ark & The Bluegrass. Both fields have some talented 3-year-olds for sure and each race can certainly change the ever changing Kentucky Derby picture.
Check out our Free Selections Section on the site for our Handicapper's Pick's.
The Tinman has been on fire in the preps!

Interestingly, we have been dubbed "The Pick-3 Kings" by several of our clients.
And once again we expect to have a very good Saturday of selections for Aqueduct.
Check out our stats on the Home Page. The numbers don't lie.

Nick Borg's Top Derby Contender's 2010

Th following is a list of horses with the best chances of winning the Kentucky derby. To make this list a horse had to show brilliance within their running lines, heart within their efforts and consistency in their performances.
1- Eskendereya - The most obvious choice and most deserved. He has had 3 prep races in this his 3-year-old season which is a big conditioning edge. He has the brilliance to stay close to the early lead while also having the fire for his stretch run as he has been pulling away with ease. We still have not seen him go all out. In his last prep, The Wood Memorial his rider had a hard time pulling him up after the finish. In fact it looked like he was being strangled back. Right now he looks like an unbeatable monster as he is eating thunder and crapping lightning. He is moving forward and figures to be peaking in Kentucky.
2-Lookin at Lucky - Strong finisher with a lot of heart that seems to never quit. He has endured some troubled trips but has shown brilliance by kicking into another gear and kept firing to the finish. He has had only 2 preps this season but his last was over a Synthetic surface which plays heavier than a basic dirt surface. So seemingly he should have enough conditioning to get the job done. While he figures to be moving forward off his preps it is questionable if he will be peaking on Derby day. Not sure his last prep with the troubled trip reached deep enough within him to add enough for 1 1/4 miles in Kentucky.
3-Sydney's Candy - Has shown brilliance within his races while racing and battling on the early lead. He has displayed another gear as his 4th quarter fraction to the mile calls have been quick and sharp. So when you think he's done he surely finds that other gear. He will surely take some beating if another speed type decides to try and match strides with Sydney. In fact I can't see another horse trying to match strides and having anything left to hold off the rest of the Derby field. Sidney figures to be peaking in Kentucky.
4-Endorsement - Turned in the best speed performance prep of the season in the Sunland Derby. He dueled a very strong and game Conveyance into submission and just kept going finishing 1 tick off the track record. Being this was his best and longest fought effort I am not sure if he can move forward off this effort. If he does he can surely take it all. But being his prior race was his Maiden breaker and he only has 4 races to his credit the task will be huge.
5- Odysseus - Turned in a very game and determined effort in The Tampa Bay Derby. He was running 2nd turning for home and got passed by 2 horses on his inside as he was dropping back. However it seemed as though he changed leads and caught fire as he was flying late and made a sweet move to the inside in the closing yards to just get up by a nostril. He is scheduled to run this coming weekend so right now is to be considered a top contender and we will have to assess how he runs and comes out of this last prep.
6-Noble's Promise - He has shown a lot of fight as he hasn't run a bad one yet. He came back off the bench last time out and held the lead into the stretch as he then battled the entire way home to only lose by a nose to Looking at Lucky. This race should have him keyed for his upcoming race this weekend. So we will have to wait to assess just how he performs and comes out of this race.

Angling in the Wood Memorial

This year's edition of the Wood Memorial came up very deep. Although there are only 6 horses entered, 4 of them are certainly on most top 10 list as far as derby contenders are concerned.

There will be pace in here and most likely it will be faster than honest. Most Happy Fella drew the rail and he has early speed. So he will be sent out early. Eskendereya won't be far off the lead and the same can be said for Schoolyard Dreams. Awesome Act will settle early and do his running from behind the main contenders among this field.

I find the most interesting angle horse in here is Jackson Bend. Jackson has some early speed and in this race he might change his tactics as he gets a new rider in Calvin Borel.
By now everyone knows how good Borel is when coming from off the pace. Remember Mine That Bird's late charge in Kentucky?

Prior to his Derby victory, Bird was a timid early speed type before Borel got him to relax off the lead and save his energy for his stretch run. Could this move be a blueprint of what took place last year?

Further, If you compare Mine That Bird's past performances prior to his derby run to Jackson Bend's current past performances you will realize that Jackson Bend seemingly has more talent. Jackson shows more quality speed going further at this point than Mine That Bird at this time last year.

So is it logical to reason that if Borel can help take Jackson Bend further off the early pace can Jackson then fire late as strongly as Mine That Bird?

I realize physically Jackson Bend is kind of small and it's said that small horses don't hold up at the longer distances. However Jackson is bred well on both sides of his pedigree.

It sure will be interesting to see this race unfold.
