News and Notes: 2009 Kentucky Derby Week

5/2/09 Mine that Bird with Calvin Borel aboard wins the Kentucky Derby. A huge longshot. We didn't have him. Pioneerof the Nile was our pick after the scratch of I Want Revenge. POTN finished second with Musket Man and Papa Clem rounding out the finishers. In retrospect, the way the rail was playing, we should have thrown a few bucks on Mine that Bird with the jockey he had. But, that's 20/20 hindsight. On to the Preakness.

4/29/09 Win Willy out of derby as reported by bloodhorse. Inconclusive x-rays showed there may be a problem in his left front ankle and his connections decided to err on the side of caution.

4/28 Square Eddie out after experiencing some heat in his shin after his workout. (reported by bloodhorse.com)

4/27 Quality Road out after bleeding and soreness in his front hoof with the latest quarter crack.
